60 semester hours (SH) guaranteed applied to the following programs:
- BA in Criminal Justice
- BA in Homeland Security
- BA in Intelligence Studies
- BA in Management
- BA in Political Science
- BA in Reverse Logistics Management
- BA in Security Management
- BAS in Technical Management
- BS in Sports Management
Eligibility
To be eligible for participation in this program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Have a conferred CCAF AAS degree.
- Be enrolled and admitted in one of the approved APUS degree programs listed above. Note: Only the programs in the list above are eligible for the AU-ABC program transfer credit.
- New students will be admitted into the current catalog APUS degree program.
Airmen and/or Guardians with a conferred CCAF degree who participate in the AU-ABC Program are guaranteed to complete their bachelor's degree in 60 semester hours or less with APUS.
- A maximum of 60 semester hours will remain for completion of the selected degree program.
- Up to 15 semester hours will be applied to the General Education area.
- Credit from the official CCAF transcript may come from multiple sources including academic credit from other institutions or credit by examination, and will be applied according to current APUS transfer credit policies.
- All coursework transferred into the CCAF AAS degree is part of the total credits applied toward a student's APUS bachelor's degree program; this includes any credit that was transferred from APUS to CCAF for completion of the AAS degree.
- Students wishing to participate in the AU-ABC Program may NOT add a minor or certificate to their selected APUS degree program. The addition of a minor or certificate prevents APUS from being able to meet the terms of the AU-ABC Co-operative Agreement as set by CCAF, thus making any student who chooses to add either or both of those elements to their chosen degree program ineligible to participate in the AU-ABC Program.
Program Changes
Students may change from one approved AU-ABC degree to another, or have the option of changing their program of study in order to take advantage of the AU-ABC Program; however, this should only be done AFTER a student has consulted his/her APUS Student Advisor as it could impact their previous TCE award. For questions about changing an APUS Academic Program, please contact [email protected].
If a student is looking to change from an existing approved AU-ABC degree to a degree that is not part of the AU-ABC program, they may not receive the same courses that were awarded in their previous TCE. Any student initiating a program change voluntarily agrees to:
- all new program requirements for their new APUS program as outlined in the current APUS catalog,
- forfeiting their previous TCE award, and
- having a new TCE performed which will be conducted using current transfer credit policies and guidelines.
APUS courses start the first Monday of each month and are 8-weeks in length. Please see the current course schedule for specifics.
If you need help or have questions, our transfer credit staff is available and will guide you through the process step-by-step.

3 SH Undergraduate-Level Credit in General Education Communication or Elective**Omnibus credit applies to a student's specific area of study within their Concentration requirements when the university does not offer an equivalent course. This credit may be treated as Elective credit depending on the specific program requirements.
Individual transfer credit award will vary based on the requirements of your selected degree program. Credits awarded are considered nontraditional transfer credit.
Note: The credit recommendations on this page are reviewed each catalog year and are subject to change.
Eligibility
Please include a copy of your DSST transcript when you submit the transfer credit evaluation form. APUS reserves the right to request an official transcript for verification purposes.
-
Undergraduate
federal emergency management agency (fema) coursework - emergency management institute (emi)
Recommended Transfer Credit
The maximum transfer credit award possible varies based on the following. Contact Transfer Credit Award for more information.
American Council on Education (ACE) reviewed FEMA coursework.
- The University will follow the recommendations made by ACE for any FEMA coursework that ACE has reviewed. If the ACE recommendation for the course completed is for credit at the baccalaureate (lower or upper) level, the University will accept that number of semester hours for the course. Note that Vocational credit recommendations are not acceptable for credit at the postsecondary education level.
- To search for and view applicable ACE credit recommendations, see the National Emergency Training Center (EMI) tab of the ACE National Guide.
FEMA coursework not reviewed by ACE:
- Any remaining coursework listed on a submitted FEMA transcript that has not been reviewed by ACE will be converted from Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to Semester Hours (SH). The University will accept a maximum of up to 12 SH of transfer credit from non-ACE reviewed FEMA coursework, which can only be applied to the Elective requirements of an undergraduate degree program.
- CEUs are converted to SH using the equation: CEUs/1.5=SH; any decimal credit is reduced to the nearest whole number. For example, 6.3 CEUs, divided by 1.5, equals 4.2. Therefore, in this example, the student would be eligible for a maximum of up to 4 SH of Elective transfer credit.
Frederick Community College coursework:
- If a student has successfully completed associated coursework at Frederick Community College (FCC) complimenting previously completed FEMA coursework, their FCC coursework can be reviewed for potential traditional academic transfer credit.
- Students must submit an official Frederick Community College transcript to be eligible for potential academic transfer credit.
Individual transfer credit award will vary based on the requirements of your selected degree program. Credits awarded are considered nontraditional transfer credit.
Note: The credit recommendations on this page are reviewed each catalog year and are subject to change.
Eligibility
- Please include a copy of your FEMA official transcript or Civil Air Patrol (CAP) transcript when you submit the transfer credit evaluation form.
- You may pursue any undergraduate degree program.
