Prepare for a Different Mission
At American Military University (AMU), we take great pride in serving National Guard members and Reservists. Our classes are online with no set login times and our classes start every month, so you can begin on your schedule. We 're also committed to saving you time and money by awarding transfer credit* for your prior college coursework and military experience.
*The University reserves the right to accept or deny credits according to the policies outlined on these transfer credit webpages. Actual time to completion will be based upon transfer credit evaluation and eligibility.
Steps to Get Started
Complete Admissions RequirementsAfter you submit your admissions application, review the undergraduate or graduate admissions ecampus tutorial and relevant tuition checklists (i.e., financial aid). An admissions representative will walk you through the follow-up steps you need to get started.
UNDERGRADUATE AND MASTER’S EDUCATION FOR POTENTIALLY ZERO OUT-OF-POCKET TUITION*
AMU's Freedom Grant covers tuition above the military TA cap of $250 per credit hour for all undergraduate and master's-level programs. The grant is available to all U.S. active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and their spouses/dependents.
Textbooks and ebooks for all undergraduate, doctoral, and Freedom Grant-eligible master’s-level students provided at no cost.
We are committed to helping our military students find additional savings beyond the military TA. We help you limit out-of-pocket costs by offering low tuition rates, a tuition grant, an undergraduate and master's-level book grant, and much more.
The Army’s credentialing assistance program is a training program that supports your professional development in your current MOS or in an occupation that you decide to pursue when you leave military service.
You can return to your program if you submitted a request to place your program on hold prior to a military deployment or if you did not make any progress on your academic program for a full year.
A Few Reasons Why We Are #1* AMU Removes Barriers
*Alumni Graduated with No APUS-incurred Student Loan Debt
As of December 31, 2021. Includes alumni who graduated with an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree from APUS. Student loan debt is defined as student loans and private education loans used for tuition, fees, living expenses, and book costs associated with courses taken at APUS. Many APUS students receive military tuition assistance and veterans education benefits, which are not student loan debt.
*Based on FY 2019 DoD tuition assistance data, as reported by Military Times, 2020
