This course examines in comparative perspective the intelligence communities of various states around the globe, to include both allies and adversaries of the United States. Course content covers how various intelligence agencies are structured, how they formulate their respective national interests, and how they address transnational problems and cultivate potential for cross-national cooperation. Students will evaluate these issues within the perspective of strategic culture, while also learning about fundamental aspects of intelligence gathering, including core problems and criticisms, and considering the differences between global approaches to intelligence. (Prerequisite: SSGS700 and INTL710)
