As a result, there is a need for skilled cybersecurity professionals who can address rapidly evolving security threats and handle security breaches. The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has further complicated cybersecurity, making it easier for malicious hackers to conduct attacks.

Gain Real-World Cybersecurity Experience

New cybersecurity professionals often pursue volunteer opportunities to build solid experience. For instance, they may volunteer, pursue internships, or work part-time for nonprofits or local community organizations to acquire the expertise needed for entry-level jobs.

The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity at AMU

Dr. Novadean Watson-Williams is currently the Department Chair for the Computer and Information Technology Programs at American Military University. She serves an aggressively growing department and has over 21 years of experience in the information technology field. Dr. Watson-Williams holds an A.A. in computer studies and a B.S. in information systems management from the University of Maryland University College, a B.S. in social science education from the University of South Florida, an M.A. in general counseling from Louisiana Tech University, and a D.B.A. in information systems from Argosy University.

Dr. Karen Hand

Dr. Karen Hand is a professor at American Military University. Dr. Hand holds an A.A.S. in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, an A.A. in Computer Studies and a B.S. in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies.

Other degrees include an M.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Open and Distance Learning, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies from Florida State University. Her previous work experience includes positions in the military, government, academia, and industry, such as technical writer, helpdesk technician, computer programmer, network administrator, database administrator, and software engineer.
