Service Event Highlight - Stop Hunger Now

On June 12, 2015 our Golden Key International Honour Society chapter co-sponsored the Class of 2015 Stop Hunger Now service event at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland with our Student Veterans of America chapter. Over 200 members, officers, guests, and university staff and faculty came together for an upbeat and meaningful event.

An amazing 17,000 meals were packaged in just under 2 hours. These meals were added to a container totaling 285,120 meals that were packaged in the National Capital area, and were sent to LeSEA Global: Feed the Hungry USA in Uganda. Due to our hard work, Stop Hunger Now is able to maintain its strong connection with Uganda and assist with feeding more than 15,000 children every day.

chloeHere is a story of just one of the small lives we touched: Chloe Zamora is a happy, healthy 5-year old who loves food and will eat anything, except maybe vegetables. Abandoned by her birth mother as a baby, Chloe blossomed after receiving nutritious Stop Hunger Now meals at a children’s home. A sweet and loving child who enjoys giving kisses and hugs to the staff, Chloe has grown to a healthy weight of 28 pounds and 39 inches tall.

We are delighted to announce that we will once again be partnering with Stop Hunger Now during next year’s Commencement activities in June to package our largest amount yet, 25,000 meals!
