5 Easy Steps to Apply

 

Step 1: Choose Your Academic Program

Choose the program of study that's right for you and review the admissions criteria.

Selecting the right degree plan is a key step in ensuring a smooth admissions process and a successful educational experience. Many students come to us unsure of which program to choose and where to begin. Our admissions representatives can help you make this important decision. Tips for Successful Program Selection

As you're browsing the academic program pages, keep these tips in mind:

  • Associate and bachelor's level programs are both undergraduate degrees.
  • Though it seems logical to earn an associate degree first and then go on to the bachelor's degree, that may not always be the best choice.
  • Keep your end goal in mind and choose the degree that best matches your career goals; this may not be the one that nets you the most in transfer credit.
  • If you need help deciding on a program, check out our career planning tool, FOCUS-2 (use apus123 as the access code when creating an account). This tool can help you discover which career fields match your interests, skills, and abilities, and suggests possible degrees that can prepare you for jobs in these areas.
  • Once you've narrowed your options, speak with an admissions representative; he or she can assist you in getting a preliminary evaluation of your previous transcripts (if applicable) so you can make a more informed choice.

Step 2: Submit the Admission Application

Complete and submit the online application for admission. There is no application fee and the form takes about 15 to 25 minutes to complete. During the application session you will be: 

  • Asked for information about your previous educational experiences, your current employer, and if you have any military affiliation.
  • Required to declare your academic program (major), which is why step one above is so important.
  • Issued a student ID, which you will use each time you log into the student ecampus/classroom; please make note of the ID.

The second half of the application is the Acknowledgment of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This is the best way to learn about our academic and financial policies and understand your rights as a student. After you acknowledge that you read the rights and responsibilities content, your application will be considered submitted.

Note: If you are a first-time undergraduate student, you may also be required to take our interactive, self-paced College Readiness Assessment prior to being fully admitted to the university. Your admission representative will walk you through any necessary follow-up steps once your application is received.

Step 3:  Create Your Student Profile in ClearPath

ClearPath is our personalized, easy-to-use communication and networking site that allows you to interact with our admissions and student services teams without being tied to your email account.

All students should create their ClearPath profile after admission by logging into the ecampus and click the ClearPath tab for access. You can also start enjoying ClearPath even while working to complete any required assessments.

Step 4: Submit Documentation

All documents are due within 15 weeks from the start date of your first course. You can log into the student ecampus for your complete list of documents due.

  • If you are a first-time undergraduate student with no prior college credits, you are not required to submit any admission documentation.
  • If you are a transfer student or have military or civilian training certificates for evaluation, you'll want to submit the transfer credit evaluation (TCE) application. Visit our Transfer Credit Evaluation Center for more information about the TCE process and acceptable sources of transfer credit.

Step 5: Register For Your Courses

Log into the student ecampus and click the Register Now button. Click on the course(s) you'd like to take and follow the prompts to register.

  • If you are an undergraduate student, you are required to take COLL100 – Foundations of Online Learning as one of your first courses.
  • If you are using Federal Student Aid (FSA), make sure you register for all the courses you intend to take for the entire academic semester to comply with FSA regulations.
  • FSA will not cover funding for the A.A. or B.A. in General Studies degrees.
