A single mom of three, Rebecca has faced several life setbacks — but her challenges are no match for her perseverance. She studies when her children study in the evening, while on vacation, even at a Cub Scout meeting, and her kids think it’s exciting that mommy has more homework than they do.

Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security
He has covered international economic summits, United Nations meetings and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. In his spare time, he is earning a second degree at AMU. Dwayne attributes much of his drive to his parents and grandparents, and he is proud to be the first in his family to pursue a college degree.

Chris is a Shift Commander/Division Chief with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (Tampa, Fl) one of the busiest engine and rescue companies in the Tampa Bay area. He holds a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Argosy University (Sarasota). Additionally, he has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Troy State University (Alabama) and a Bachelors in Public Safety from Eckerd College (Florida). Read more…
Dr. Jim Reilly
Dean
Ph.D: University of Texas at Dallas
Dr. Jim Reilly joined APUS in December, 2009, as the Dean of the School of Science and Technology. He received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1977 and 1985, respectively. He received his Ph.D in geosciences in 1995 from UTD with his dissertation titled The Structural and Stratigraphic Controls on the Distribution of Chemosynthetic Communities in the Gulf of Mexico. Field work required a combined 22 days underwater in deep submergence vehicles operated by the US Navy and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution.
After 17 years as an exploration geologist, Dr. Reilly was selected as a member of the 15th astronaut class in 1995. He flew three shuttle missions, STS-89 in 1998, STS-104 in 2001, and STS-117 in 2007, for a total time in space of over 850 hours. He also conducted five spacewalks for a total of over 31 hours of EVA time. He retired from the Astronaut Corps in 2008 moving to Colorado Springs, where he worked in senior management with two small companies before joining APUS in December, 2009. Read more…
Jennifer Hesterman

MS: Johns Hopkins University
Jenni Hesterman is a 1986 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned not only a Bachelor's Degree in Geography, but also a commission as an officer in the Air Force. During her subsequent 21 year career in the Air Force, she worked in several fields, including Information Management, Logistics and Personnel. She served 3 tours at the Pentagon, and commanded at the squadron and group levels. Her last assignment in the Air Force was at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, where she served as the Vice Wing Commander. She retired on August 1, 2007 as a colonel. Read more…
