About This Program

The undergraduate NanoCert in Business Project Management introduces the common terms and concepts used in project management. You will learn about theory, terms, and concepts highlighted in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), with an emphasis on the key components of successful project planning, time constraints, resources, scope, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.

As part of your studies, you develop a Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) and project plan, helping you understand concepts to monitor and control a project, as well as scope management. You will create a project schedule to include resources and risks. This program acquaints you with what is asked of a project manager in terms of skills and responsibilities, as well as how all the project pieces fit together. You will have the opportunity to practice several tools and techniques through assignments.

The courses in this NanoCert are designed to bring you closer to completion of the following degree: BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration, Business Project Management concentration).

This course provides an overview of the processes involved in business project management. The student will be exposed to the practical aspects of running a project, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and developing various plans needed during a business project life cycle. Various techniques needed to track and control a project are introduced. Techniques will include critical path, earned value analysis, variance analysis, and trend analysis.

This course delves into the theories, concepts, and practical applications of understanding how the scope of a project is translated into a project schedule and plan. The student will be exposed to developing a Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) and project plan, which helps the student understand some of the concepts to monitor and control a project. The student will be exposed to creating a project schedule with resources and risks, as well as understanding scope management by creating a WBS and project plan. (Prerequisite: BUSN451)

This course delves into the theories, concepts, and practical applications of integrating all processes within a project, including quality, resources, and stakeholders. The student will be exposed to developing a quality management plan, resource plan, and stakeholder plan and how they all integrate to drive the project results. The student will be exposed to conflict resolution, decision-making, and leadership to bring the project to a conclusion. (Prerequisite: BUSN451)
