Federal Student Aid (FSA) Credit Balance Refunds

When you pay for your education using Federal Student Aid (FSA), the total amount of your semester funding (loan or grant) is paid directly to the university to cover your tuition and fees for the semester. Any remaining funds will be delivered to you to cover other educational expenses. We call this your “credit balance refund.”

The university receives FSA funds approximately 30 calendar days after the start of your academic semester. It then takes up to 14 days to process credit balance refunds. Therefore, you should expect to receive your funding approximately 45 days after the beginning of a semester.

Note: This process may take longer if you have not completed or maintained all necessary requirements to receive FSA funding.

The university works with a third-party service called BankMobile to issue FSA credit balance refunds. BankMobile will notify you via email or text message when your funds have been deposited. Learn how to set up and manage your BankMobile account.

Doctoral program students receive their credit balance by check directly from the university.
