This course is designed to address the multi-billion dollar annual loss globally due to cargo theft. Topics include: asset protection in the transportation industry, analysis of freight system vulnerability, development of an effective cargo security plan, review of industry standards, and best practices in the industry.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

  1. Define the impact of transportation disruptions on the supply chain.
  2. Apply cargo security planning to all modes of transportation security.
  3. Identify the different challenges of facility security.
  4. Summarize the economic impact of government oversight on cargo security.
  5. Apply cargo security planning from the perspective of users (human factor) in multiple industries.
  6. Compare the role of state and local transportation authorities regarding security.
  7. Categorize the vulnerabilities of different transportation modes and their impact on cargo security.
  8. Explain the impact of safety issues on security planning and costs.
