Focuses on the understanding of how hotels are managed from the rooms’ perspective. Managerial aspects of the front of the house departments/divisions and the back of the house departments/divisions are to ensure efficient lodging operations; topics include the overview of the lodging industry, housekeeping, front office, PBX, reservations, revenue management, forecasting, budgeting, inventory management, service, ethics, and technology.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

1. Assess challenges, issues, and trends in the lodging industry.

2. Demonstrate management solutions to common problems in the hotel and lodging industry.

3. Describe hotel and lodging operations, to include financial management and technological advances.

4. Examine human resource issues and challenges affecting the hotel and lodging industry.

5. Prepare a marketing strategy for exploring a hotel opportunity.

6. Analyze food and beverage industry reports to discuss the shift in dining trends.

7. Explain specific safety & security measures necessary for hotel and lodging businesses.
