This course focuses on contemporary theories and practices associated with environmental and ecosystems management. Industrial, economic, commercial, political, developmental, and other issues and concerns that influence environmental and ecosystems management are addressed. (Prerequisite: EVSP310)

Current Syllabi

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

LO-1 Discuss the evolution of and processes involved with environmental planning in the United States.

LO-2 Demonstrate knowledge of land conservation tools and sustainable development.

LO-3 Describe the tools used at Federal, State and local levels to promote environmental and ecosystem planning.

LO-4 Evaluate techniques used for natural hazard mitigation and ecosystem and watershed protection.

LO-5 Analyze the application of GIS and other computer technologies for land use planning and environmental management.

LO-6 Discuss primary methods of assessing surface water transport and management tools.

LO-7 Assess fundamentals of groundwater management, urban forestry, and wetlands mitigation.

LO-8 Integrate course materials learned to discuss complex issues of habitat, biodiversity, carrying capacity, and environmental impact statement analysis.
