This course will introduce students to the principles of juvenile delinquency. It will provide a historical overview of juvenile delinquency in America. The course will examine the psychological, social, and environmental theories of juvenile delinquency while also covering the juvenile court system and treatment options for delinquency.

CO2: Explain delinquency from a variety of perspectives.
CO3: Analyze the extent of delinquent behavior along with trends in juvenile delinquency within the United States.
CO4: Describe the social causation of delinquency.
CO5: Outline major theories of juvenile delinquency.
CO6: Examine the impact of external factors like neighborhood, family, friends, and schools on child development and delinquency.
CO7: Describe the origins, history, and philosophical objectives of the juvenile justice system.
CO8: Compare and contrast effective treatment approaches to preventing and controlling delinquency with treatment approaches that have been ineffective.
