*New as of January 1, 2009: For the 2009-2010 award year, students may receive a National SMART Grant if they are attending at least half time. The amount of the grant will be prorated based on similar methodology to the Federal Pell Grant.
The National SMART Grant is a grant that does not need to be repaid. To be eligible for each academic year, a student must:
Students identified by the institution that meet all of the eligibility requirements will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education for payment. An eligible student may receive a National SMART Grant of $4000 for each of the third and fourth academic years of study. View a list of eligible programs.
