Parent PLUS Loans
Summary
- Parents of dependent students can borrow under the PLUS Loan Program within the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program

- Eligibility:
- You must be the student's biological or adoptive parent or the student's stepparent, if the biological or adoptive parent has remarried at the time of application
- Your child must be a dependent student
- He or she is under 24, unmarried, and has no legal dependents at the time the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is submitted
- Exceptions are made for veterans, wards of court, and other special circumstances. Contact the Financial Aid Office for help
- Your child must be enrolled at least half-time at a school
- A credit check will be done. You cannot have an adverse credit history
- Additionally, your child must meet the general eligibility requirements for all Federal Aid

Process at a Glance
- Steps Completed by Student
- Apply for admission to our university
- Select your academic start date
- Submit the Federal Student Aid (FSA) Intent form, once you have been accepted as a student
- Access “My Financial Aid Office” to
- Steps Completed by Parent
- Sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN) (Loan recipients only)
- Complete your PLUS Loan Application
- Review your award
- Sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN)
- Register for classes. Select Federal Student Aid as your method of payment
- Take action on any requests received from your Financial Aid Representative. Some students may be selected for a process called Verification
- Review your confirmed award letter within “My Financial Aid Office" inside myCampus
