National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant

 
  • NOTE: This Grant will no longer be available after July 2011
  • Maximum grant award per year is $4,000 and it is available only in your third and fourth year of your four year program
  • To be eligible, a student must:

    • Be a Federal Pell Grant recipient, meaning you must meet the eligibility requirements and follow the same FSA application process as the Pell Grant applicants
    • Be enrolled full-time or at least half-time in a degree program
    • Enrolled in a four-year degree-granting institution
    • Be in your the third or fourth year of undergraduate study (or fifth year of a five-year program)
    • Majoring in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology or a critical-need foreign language; and
    • Have at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale in the coursework required for the student’s major
  • See the Department of Education’s list of eligible fields of study (majors)
