The School of Public Service and Health – Online Degree and Certificate Programs

The School of Public Service and Health houses several of the University’s flagship programs, including online degrees in corrections, counterterrorism, criminal justice, emergency and disaster management. Our faculty combines top academic credentials with practical expertise. They include practicing attorneys, public health professionals, emergency managers, criminal justice professionals, and security managers; as well as international and national governmental and military consultants and practitioners. Students are quite active outside of the classroom, through organizations such as the Golden Key Honor Society, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Student Veterans of American (SVA).

American Military University’s public health program is currently seeking accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Michael L Jackson
Dean
PhD: Southern Illinois University

Michael JacksonMichael L. (Mike) Jackson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education from Central Michigan University, his Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and his Ph.D. in Community Health from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. He has served in numerous public health and academic positions, including faculty member and Graduate Coordinator at Western Illinois University Department of Health Sciences, Program Director/Chair at Truman State University, Assistant Department Chair at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health, Executive Director of the Hult Health Education Center in Peoria, Illinois, Public Health Education Consultant for the Illinois Department of Public Health, and Health Educator for the Midland (MI) County Health Department. His research interests include training for ethical decision-making and survival education for public health professionals. Dr. Jackson’s wife, Naomi is a Registered Pharmacist and Health Educator and their son, Matthew, is a student at APUS, and owner/operator of s a computer systems and network security company in Macomb, Illinois.
