The Bachelor of Arts in Retail Management emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and the practical skills needed to effectively manage a variety of retail operations. This online bachelor’s degree will focus on interpersonal, managerial, human resource, leadership, communication, and the critical thinking skills necessary for success in the retail industry. Completion of this online program can help to propel your current career as a professional retail store manager, or to help you prepare for new retail management positions.

Program Objectives

In addition to the institutional and degree level learning objectives, graduates of this program are expected to achieve these learning outcomes:

  • Apply the principles and theories of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, leading, and controlling in retail management used by successful retailers in today’s global economy.
  • Assess the importance of retail strategy formulation and strategic perspectives of retail management on the impact of retailing in the global economy.
  • Deconstruct the impact of innovation within the retail industry to include its challenges and solution-driven strategies to remain current with today’s ever-changing technologies.
  • Evaluate retail operations to include successful implementation strategies and operational processes that maximize store profits.
  • Summarize and assess retail merchandising operations in the competitive marketplace in relation to corporate profitability.

Concentrations

Concentrations are designed to help you group courses together so you can further specialize in your field and pursue a more focused path to degree completion. You will be asked to select a concentration when you enroll in this program.

Admission Requirements

  • All AMU undergraduate programs require a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED).
  • All Momentum programs require an associate degree or higher from an accredited college. If you do not have an associate degree, please contact an admissions representative to learn about other options for degree completion.
  • You will be asked to submit your transcripts from previous schools where you earned academic credit.
  • There is no fee to complete the AMU admission application. View steps to apply.

Please be prepared to submit a legible copy of your valid government-issued photo ID (civilian students) or government issued JST or CCAF transcript (military students) upon request.  

An AMU admissions representative will contact you with further details about how to submit the required documentation after you complete the enrollment application.

Momentum

Why study material you already know? With our Momentum option, you can focus on learning new competencies at your pace. We’ll work with you to apply your current knowledge and develop your personalized learning plan and course resources. Instead of attending classes, you’ll master new subject areas and move directly into the next without waiting for a new term to begin, with subject matter experts and a faculty mentor guiding you along the way.

Momentum programs are ideal if you’re highly motivated, have some expertise in your subject area, and can commit to 16-20 hours per week to your studies.

Momentum Pricing

Momentum programs are priced at a flat rate of $2,500 per 16-week term. This means, the more competencies you complete each term, the more you can save on the total cost of your degree. To make this cost effective, we recommend you complete no less than 15 competencies per term. At this time, Momentum programs are not eligible for financial aid including military TA or veterans benefits. You will be asked to pay the $2,500 with a credit card or check when you register for each term.
