
Dr. Enver Dersan earned his Ph.D. in Turkish Political History with focus on the military's role in politics, at the Bosphorus University, Istanbul in 1998. He also holds two masters degrees in the fields of international relations and the global security issues (both earned at the Turkish Naval War College, Istanbul). Before he retired from Turkish Navy, he worked for the Strategy Department at the Turkish General Staff in Ankara, served as the Turkish Naval Attache in Washington D.C., and taught several courses both at the Turkish Naval Academy and Turkish Naval War College related to the international strategic matters in the Middle East. In his civilian career, he has been teaching various courses in the medium of English both at graduate and undergraduate levels in the field of international relations at several state and private universities in Turkey since 1994. The courses that he has taught so far are: Introduction to Political Science, International Relations, World Politics, Turkish Politics, Turkish Foreign Policy, EU Integration Politics, International Organizations, Comparative Government, Public Management, MNC's role in globalization, NGO's position in politics, Ottoman History, and the Middle East Politics.
As an Adjunct Faculty Dr. Enver Dersan is teaching some courses at the American Public University System (APUS) related to Defense Policy, Middle East Politics, and NATO both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He continues to work on the Middle East security issues, and NATO's security involvement in the process of globalization. So far he has written many articles in security and strategic matters mainly focused on the Middle East politics.
