MSgt Mead retired from the Air Force in December 2002 after little over 20 years on active duty. He was part of the Intelligence Community for over 25 years (military and civilian). He began his career as a Morse Operator intercepting our adversaries in the Far East. In 1988 he crossed trained into intercepting friendly forces communications in order to identify telecommunications vulnerabilities and weaknesses. He also conducted communications jamming and imitative deception on air-to-air, ground-to-air, and ground-to-ground communications to train our communicators how to counter and get around jamming and deception. MSgt Mead spent over 15 years in the Pacific region before being assigned to the cryptologic intelligence technical training school at Goodfellow AFB, Texas, writing non-resident courses. Upon retirement he went to work for Northrop Grumman as an Interactive Courseware Designer developing multimedia based intelligence courses for the Electronic Intelligence basic course. In January 2004 he moved to a company called Dynetics and worked out of the Joint Information Operations Center in San Antonio as a member on the Joint OPSEC Support Element. There he educated warriors on OPSEC and collected open source information to protect our brother-in-arms. Eventually MSgt Mead accepted a Training Development Manager position at the cryptologic intelligence technical training school in San Angelo, TX (Goodfellow AFB). He managed several Analysis and Reporting courses, ELINT courses, linguistic courses, and ESSA courses. In August 2007 he accepted a training position with the Office of Personnel Management/Federal Investigative Services Division in Boyers, PA, and eventually was promoted to a program manager for the Retirement Operations Center in Boyers. MSgt Mead received his Masters degree from the Joint Military Intelligence College majoring in Strategic Intelligence and has a Bachelors degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University.
