Paul Cooke earned a bachelor’s in International Studies with a focus in East Asian studies from American University in Washington, DC. He has also earned an MA in international affairs/operations research from the American University and an MSI in strategic intelligence with a concentration in terrorism from American Military University. In addition, he has completed additional graduate work with UNITAR (Peacekeeping Operations), in Criminal Justice, graduate risk analysis courses with Citicorp, and post-graduate courses in international business operations. Cooke is the recipient of AMU's Faculty Excellence in Teaching and Learning award in 2007. He also was awarded the Faculty Excellence Award at Cypress-Fairbanks College. Prior to becoming a faculty member with AMU, Cooke has held numerous defense and intelligence positions, including serving as Research Analyst for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (Terrorism and Pacific Power programs), intelligence analyst for OSD/Net Assessment; senior program manager for intelligence and weapon systems research and engineering for Boeing Defense and Space Group; program development manager for Department of Energy projects at Lockheed-Martin; senior manager for International Operations for Hewlett-Packard; and senior manager for planning, forecasting, and logistics consulting with Ernst and Young, LLP. Cooke has been posted to Kuwait, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the Netherlands and has traveled and worked in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Italy and elsewhere.
