Hi, my name is Susan Mangus. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia and my MBA from the University of Phoenix in January 2001.
I have been teaching online classes for over 10 years with the last 7 being with AMU. Currently, I am instructing COLL 100 for AMU. It seems education has always been a part of my life, whether I am going to school myself, teaching a course, or mentoring someone to change their live by going to school.
I am employed full time with ITT Educational Services as their National Director of Field Finance. It is my job to provide the tools to the field to process financial aid. I also train, mentor, and hire ITT Technical Institute's Directors of Finance. I find my job rewarding because I use my programming background to make sure the software is operational and in compliance with Federal regulations, and my love of teaching by being the training source for Directors of Finance out in the schools. Because of the job promotion in October 2010, I find myself currently living in Indiana while my family is still in Maryland.
I have two lovely daughters. Jennifer, who is finishing up her degree at Towson University, has plans to work with preschool children and is already working in her field at the Goddard School. Kim, who is a junior at Univ. of Maryland College Park, is studying biology with hopes of going to pharmaceutial school.
In my spare time, I am a dance instructor. So you will find me competing, dancing, or teaching someone to dance.
I was married to military (Air Force pilot) for 15 years, so I understand the terminology and the lifestyle of a military family.
Taking that all together, it is my intention to bring my experience, from all facets, into the classroom and help others achieve their dreams of receiving their degree. There is nothing better than seeing a graduate receive their degree and knowing their family is in a better place.
