
Professor Steven McNally is the Program Director and an Assistant Professor for both the AMU Bachelor and Master of Science in Security Management programs.
Professor McNally has 31 years of combined professional experience in corporate security management, private security/investigative consulting, law enforcement, corrections, and military service. Professor McNally is currently a PhD student in Business Administration with a specialization in Criminal Justice at Northcentral University. He holds a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Eastern Michigan University. He graduated with Academic Honors from Webster University and Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University.
Professor McNally is one of a very limited number of security professionals worldwide that is triple board certified in security management (Certified Protection Professional – CPP since 1991), physical security (Physical Security Professional - PSP), and investigations (Professional Certified Investigator - PCI) by ASIS International. He is also board certified in fraud examination (Certified Fraud Examiner – CFE since 1991) by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has been invited and participated in 2007 PSP question development workshop held in Orlando by ASIS International.
Prior professional experience includes four years with the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Armament System Specialist; two years as a Corrections Officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections; and four years as a Miami-Dade County Police Officer and Detective. Additionally, his experience comprises two years as the South Florida and Caribbean Regional Security Manager for McDonalds Corporation; 12 years as an independent security/investigative consultant; and seven months as a Deputy Administrator/Chief of Security for Wackenhut Corrections in Pompano Beach, Florida. From 1999 to November 2006, he served as the Director of Public Safety and Security for an upscale private club and community in Miami, Florida. Professor McNally has been a full-time university/college Professor since the fall of 2007.
While with the Miami-Dade Police Department, he was nominated on three occasions and twice selected as Officer of the Month. He has been interviewed, cited and quoted by numerous newspapers, journals and a television station. In 2006, he was profiled by ASIS International in Security Management.
Professor McNally has authored a Security Officer Turnover Study and a Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company commissioned Miami Cargo Theft Analysis. In addition, he has provided a Security Officer Turnover contribution to the Protection Practices chapter of 2007 edition of Encyclopedia of Security Management. He has also published articles on capital punishment, security officer turnover costs/retention strategies, and traffic/pedestrian safety as well as security book reviews.
Professor McNally has been elected or appointed an officer, director and/or committee chair in local, state, and national professional associations. He is active with ASIS International and has attended in excess of 30 regional, state and national fraud, investigative, and security conferences/seminars in the last 20 years.
His professional affiliations include ASIS International, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
