Jon R Carleton

Jon Carleton is the Faculty Director for History, Military History, and Political Science. His rank is Professor of History, American Public University System.

His undergraduate degree is in American History (University of Wisconsin, 1968) and his graduate work is in Curriculum and Instruction with majors in History and Sociology (University of Wisconsin, 1971). In 1971, he was commissioned in the US Air Force where he spent 24 years in the Education and Training field and Joint Operational Planning environment. In addition to attending USAF service schools, he was a chair and faculty member at the Armed (Joint) Forces Staff College from 1989 to 1993. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He completed doctoral work in Higher Education at George Washington University, and subsequently worked as an educational administrator with Saint Leo University and Central Michigan University.

His teaching background includes undergraduate courses in American social and cultural history and graduate courses in American popular culture as well as strategic planning and military campaigns.
