
Dr. John D. Moore comes to APUS from the Health Sciences and Corporate sectors, specializing in wellness consulting and counseling for individuals and organizations. He is co-founder of 2nd Story Consultants, a Chicago based wellness firm.
Graduating with honors, he received his Ph.D. in Human Psychology from the School of Behavioral Science at Northcentral University. In addition, he holds a MBA with concentrations in Healthcare Management and Finance from the Indiana Institute of Technology and a Masters in Community Healthcare Administration and Wellness Promotion from California College for Health Sciences. His bachelors is in Business Administration and Marketing. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a Board Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor.
Dr. Moore's academic approach to classroom instruction is practical in nature, strength based and interactive, encouraging students to reach their highest possible potential. He believes that each student brings unique gifts to the classroom and that all learners are instrumental in the collaborative learning process.
Moore has appeared as a guest speaker at numerous conferences on topics related to mental and physical health and has contributed to various publications, including American Health and Fitness, Cosmo, the Los Angeles Times, Army Times and the Wall Street Journal. He holds memberships in the National Career Development Association, the American College Counselors Association and the American Counseling Association.
Interests areas include behavioral medicine, exercise science, organizational behavior, sports, new technologies and current events.
A native of Chicago, he lives on the city's North Side.
