Biography - Anne C Venzon

Professor Venzon earned her BA in History from Lafayette College, an MA in European History from Seton Hall University, and her Ph.D. in American History from Princeton University where she wrote her dissertation, "The Papers of General Smedley Darlington Butler, USMC, 1915-1918."

She has been a freelance historian and consultant since 1983, working with numerous academic publishers and the Center of Military History at the Department of the Army. She also worked as a consultant for the Papers of Woodrow Wilson Project at Princeton, under the direction of Professor Arthur S. Link.

Venzon's publications include "Leaders of Men: Ten Marines Who Changed the Corps," "From Whaleboats to Amphibious Warfare, Lt. General 'Howlin' Mad Smith and the United States Marine Corps," "The United States in the First World War, An Encyclopedia," "America's War with Spain, A Selected Bibliography," and "General Smedley Darlington Butler; The Letters of a Leatherneck."

She has two adult children, and when she's not doting on her four grandchildren she enjoys needlepoint and pistol marksmanship.
