Dr. Chuck Russo has been involved with American Military University since 2001.
Dr. Russo was a police officer in Central Florida for 10 years. His career involved all areas of patrol and special operations including but not limited to motorcycle/traffic officer, DUI enforcement, bicycle patrol, traffic homicide investigator, vice investigations, field training officer, D.A.R.E. instructor and acting supervisor tactical unit. As well as designing and instructing inservice training in local agencies, Professor Russo designed and instructed courses in communications, report writing, interview and interrogations, instructor techniques, field training officer, firearms, and law enforcement driving for several Central Florida law enforcement and corrections academies. Dr. Russo continues his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Daytona Beach Police Department, FL.
In 1995, Dr. Russo earned his Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology/Media - Instructional Systems from the College of Education at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Russo then earned his second Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the College of Health and Public Affairs at the University of Central Florida in 1996. In 2006, Dr. Russo earned his doctoral degree at University of Central Florida in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Public Affairs. His research focuses on new technology and law enforcement applications, including the exploration of the use of automatic vehicle locators in efforts to improve response time to calls for service.
Dr. Russo has been involved in web-based training and education since 1996, garnering national and international awards in 1997, 1999 and 2003 for the web based learning centers he has created and managed. Dr. Russo has designed, created and managed web based training and education centers for educational institutions, non-profits and private business, including Fortune 1000 companies. Dr. Russo continues to design and instruct courses, as well as act as a consultant, for colleges and universities throughout the United States.
