Biography - Edward F Albin

Dr. Albin is an adjunct professor in the Department of Space Studies. He has been involved in the field of Space Science for more than 25 years as an instructor of planetary science / astronomy at the Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Albin presents programs and assists in the direction of the facility's Zeiss planetarium as well as the observatory's 0.9 m telescope. Inspired by the Apollo Moon landings in the 1960’s and 70’s, he acquired a Masters degree in planetary science from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in planetary geology from the University of Georgia. His research interests include the study of meteorites and impact craters, with special emphasis on the study of the geology of the Moon, Mars, and asteroids. Dr. Albin is also an accomplished commercial helicopter pilot, where he flies photo missions and tours over the city of Atlanta.
