Dr. Doug Mikutel

Ph.D., History & Philosophy of Education, Florida State University
M.S., Higher Education, Florida State University
M.P.A., Public Administration, University of North Florida
B.A., Economics, Virginia Tech

I have worked at several universities in mainly administrative positions since 1995 - filling positions within Academic Affairs or the Registrar's Office writing articulation/transfer agreements and MOUs, managing academic support or military programs, or providing academic advisement.

I have taught a wide range of courses since 2000 from Education and Student Success at Florida State University to American National Government, Current Issues in America, Graduate Capstone and Capstone Prep, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Advanced Aviation Economics, Air Carrier, Passenger and Cargo Management, Aviation Education Foundation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. As a graduate student, I have taken coursework through many departments from Economics to Political Science to Aeronautical Science at several universities. Most recently I have just completed a teaching assignment for Embry-Riddle Asia teaching Advanced Aviation Economics and Air Carrier, Passenger and Cargo Management in Singapore.

My doctoral dissertation discussed the early historical development of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, including the political, sociological and economic ramifications of the development of the school to the state of Florida. Some of my original research was presented at the Southern History of Education Society annual meeting in 2002 at the Civil Rights Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. A portion of this research was published in El Escribano: The St Augustine Journal of History.

When not on the clock teaching or working, I enjoy spending time at home with my family, frequenting Florida’s great state parks and beaches, fishing and crabbing, collecting stamps and coins, traveling whenever possible, playing guitar, watching college football (Go Hokies! and Go Noles!) and constantly learning about the world around us.
