Dr. Heidi Grappendorf is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, in the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University. Before NC State, she was an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University, Salem University, and Webber International University. She received her M.S. from the University of Northern Colorado and her PhD from the University of New Mexico in Sport Administration. Dr. Grappendorf has substantial experience in research and the under-representation of women in sport management. Her area of specialization involves the utilization of role congruity theory as the theoretical basis for her work. She has numerous national and international presentations, publications, and book chapters related to her research..
Dr. Grappendorf has served as the Vice-President for Research for the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport, is President of the Division on Women in the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and former co-chair of the Diversity Committee for NASSM. At NC State University, she is a member of the NSF ADVANCE Project advisory board and is an NSF ADVANCE Scholar, Chair of the Association for Women Faculty, and Chair of the Provost’s Council on the Status of Women, and is on the Executive Council for the Women & Gender Studies Program.
