Dr. Garcia is a professor of criminal justice and sociology with over 10 years of full-time teaching experience in the New England and Florida regions. He has conducted extensive funded research on issues such as policing strategies, fear factors, occupational stressors, psychological and behavioral effect of victimization, prostitution, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, and citizen involvement in crime prevention. He had also served as a department chairperson and academic dean in Vermont.

Dr. Garcia’s practitioner experience includes 12 years of service within the Boston Police Department as principal writer and policy analyst, deputy director of strategic planning and policy development, and director of research. He also served as training coordinator for the Vermont Department of Corrections.

He has engaged in collaborative endeavors with numerous academic and practitioner institutions throughout the U.S. and internationally. These include the Office of the President of the United States, Office of the President of Mexico, National Institute of Justice, F.B.I., U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as well as several local criminal justice agencies.

Dr. Garcia currently teaches courses in the Graduate Intelligence Studies and Criminal Justice Programs.
