Biography - Thomas L Wheeler

Thomas L Wheeler

I love teaching—something I’ve been doing since 1967. And I especially enjoy helping people learn mathematics.

My philosophy is that everybody can learn SOME math! That doesn’t mean that it necessarily comes easily; it may involve extra time and, no doubt, moments of frustration. But I don’t buy the idea (the excuse?) of some folks who claim that they “cannot learn mathematics.”

My degrees are from Southern Methodist University, Eastern New Mexico University—and Georgia Southwestern State University, from which I retired a few years ago but at which I still occasionally teach part-time.

Besides getting to know math students, I also enjoy playing the piano, working out, and reading novels written in Spanish.
