Biography - Joanetta D Ellis


Dr. Joanetta (Jodie) Ellis retired after thirty-one years in public education as a teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, and principal at both the elementary and secondary levels in a school district along the Texas border of Mexico. She received her doctorate from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in Educational Leadership. She holds certifications in ESL, Teacher Earth Science, Supervision of Instruction, Mid-Management, and a Superintendent Certification. She has worked with the Texas Education Agency, various Texas Educational Regional Service Centers and south, central and west Texas school districts as well as Texas State University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the University of Texas Pan American, and South Texas College. Various projects include the following: online course design, professional development, promising practices in instruction, curriculum planning, testing and measurement, instructional delivery system and assessment alignment, personnel hiring and evaluation assessment, facilities construction and design, substitute teacher, teacher, and administrator leadership training, and grant writing. Awards include: Promising Practices in Texas, Texas Initiatives: Elementary Mentor School, Middle School Mentor School, and Pathfinder School. She is a contributing editor working with Texas State University on “Texas MathWorks,” a pre-algebra textbook for sixth and seventh graders and has articles in publication in the Journal of Academic and Business Ethics and the Journal of Modern Education Review. Dr. Ellis is an educational management consultant for the San Antonio area and works as a full time associate professor with American Public University System teaching graduate and undergraduate courses as well as mentoring new adjunct faculty members. She resides with her husband in the Texas Hill Country.
