Dr. Onwuatuegwu Echezona is an associate professor in the School of Management at the American Military University with a joint appointment with the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from University of Colorado at Boulder and his Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Technology from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Echezona earned his PhD degree in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with emphasis in Engineering Management from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from the Academy of Military Sciences at McGhee Tyson, Tennessee and served as Staff Engineer for the US Air Force and the US Army. He then completed his Project Management and Programming Course at the US Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio.

Currently, Dr. Echezona is the Chief of Business Operations Division at the Space and Missile Defense Command/Reagan Test Site. Prior to that, he was a Project Engineer with the US Army Corp of Engineers and was instrumental in the Global War on Terrorism Reconstruction Efforts. He also served as a Project Manager for the United States Pacific Air Force Command and the Contracting Specialist for the US Property and Fiscal Office. As a client consultant with CH2M Hill Inc. and Dowell-Schlumberger, he developed strategic Runway Construction and Oil Field Designs respectively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Dr. Echezona’s publications include Rocket Sounding Balloon Experiment(2001), Software Security Using OSI Model Wide Area Network (2009), and The Ultimate Empowerment: Power of Womanhood (Under Review). He is also a member of National Societies of Professional Engineers (NSPE), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Society for American Military Engineers (SAME), Minority Engineering Program Association (MEP), American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE), National Guard Association of the United States (NAGUS) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Echezona is originally from Nigeria and his hobbies include playing piano, soccer, traveling, symphonies and orchestras. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and expertise with his students both in the academic and in the professional arenas.
