Diana received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Self-Contained 1-8 with a Speciality in Reading from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She received her Master's in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, K-12 from Walden University. Diana is also currently earning her Doctoral degree, EdD.in Adult and Higher Education from Walden University.
Diana is currently a 3rd grade teacher at an elementary school in a suburb of San Antonio, Texas. During her career as a classroom teacher she has taught grades 2nd through 5th grade. She has been a grade level chair, mentor teacher and student teacher supervisor. She has served on several district and campus committees in math, reading and assessment.
She was an employee of Harcourt Assessment, now Pearson Education for a year where she was a Reading Assessment Specialist and wrote standard based passages and reading questions based on various state standards. She was also a subcontractor for the state of Texas and wrote standard based math questions for the state developed standard based test. In addition, she has served as an Assessment grader for various state writing standard based tests and the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Awards include: H.E.B. Excellence in Education Award, Rampage Teacher of the Game, Whatever it Takes Award, H.E.B. Grant Recipient for technology $4660.00, Wayne Martin Fellowship Recipient 2005, Red Robin Teacher of the Month, Trinity Prize for Teaching Excellence in Teaching Award and 2005 Sam’s Teacher of the Year.
Diana’s personal interests include spending time with family and friends, listening to Christian and Country music, reading, bowling, playing with her dogs, and traveling. She treasures every moment she is able to share with her students, parents and colleagues. Her weekends with her husband of 24 years, college daughter and high school son are abundant with laughter and memories! One of the mottos she lives by and her students know her for is, “Peace, Love and Happiness”. Life is too short to not live it to the fullest!
