Greetings Scholars & Welcome to Class!

My name is Professor L. M. Portugal. I am currently working on a PhD in Leadership for Higher Education, and I am in the dissertation phase, pending degree completion 2011. I hold a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Arts & Fine Arts. In addition, I am an online professor for eight universities, a Faculty Supervisor to graduate-level student teachers, and an online Advanced English Tutor to graduate, at-risk, nontraditional, TOESL, and international students via WebEx, 1-on-1 sessions, online real-time tutoring sessions, and in-formal drop in assistance.

I used to teach online and ground campus 6th through 12th grades in various disciplines. Finally, I have taught in seven charter and/or public schools, and I also used to be a librarian.

Previous to my work in the Education profession, I was in advertising management and sales for 12 years and I was a general manager, regional manager, sales manager, and a senior-level account executive.

My goal is to continue to teach online classes world-wide, research, write, and publish. I have published various research papers with peer-reviewed academic journals. My educational interests and passion are focused on Multiple Intelligences, Brain-Based Learning Theory, Diversity Leadership in Higher Education, and Transformational versus Transactional Leadership.

I play the keyboard, guitar, violin, and cello. I am also an artist (oil paint, watercolor, drawing, and photography).
