Biography - Jerome L Pionk


Professor Pionk is a retired United States Army Sergeant Major with over 30 years of service.

He holds a Doctorate in Business and Human Resources Management from Northcentral University, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science degree from The State University of New York.

Professor Pionk currently serves as the Chief of the Army Recruiting Incentives Branch for Headquarters, Department of the Army in the Pentagon.

He served from 1992-2000 as the Army's Senior Retention Policy Proponent in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel in the Pentagon and was named as the Army's Career Counselor of the Century upon his retirement.

Professor Pionk is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and held the rank of Major in the US Army Reserves. He also graduated from the Army Sergeant's Major Academy and numerous recruiting and retention courses throughout his Army career.

He has written three books: "Prairie Vignettes", a collection of short stories about his South Dakota childhood,"Distinguished Veterans who made a Difference", and "The History of Military Retention", a compiled archive of major events in our nation's history that impacted on military retention.

Professor Pionk was previously an English instructor at Yale Language Institute in Seoul, Korea and was an English instructor for officials of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee. He has written major legislative proposals for the Army for recruiting and retention incentives, education incentives and other bonus related laws and serves as a member of the Education Advisory Council for the Association of Military Recruiters and Counselors.
