
Dr. Bruce K. Bayley has a BS in Sociology/Criminology with a minor in adult and juvenile corrections and a Masters in Family Ecology with emphases in juvenile delinquency and the bi-directional relationships between crime and the family. He also has a Doctorate in Family and Human Development with emphases in juvenile delinquency, crime and the family, and improving law enforcement/juvenile interactions. As a family criminologist, Professor Bayley conducts research addressing the bi-directional relationships between crime and the family, delinquency, adolescents’ perceptions of crime and the criminal justice systems, and an on-going analysis of the tactics and training of Correctional Emergency Response Teams (CERT). Dr. Bayley is a retired Correctional Officer from California and spent three years working as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the State of Utah. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Weber State University and maintains working relationships with a number of local, state, and federal law enforcement and corrections agencies. In addition, Dr. Bayley is a Certified Family Life Educator and active in the National Council on Family Relations where he specializes in family and human development as they relate to crime and delinquency.
