Professor Josef Vice received his B.A. in English and history, as well as his B.S. in Education and M.A. in English from Jacksonville State University. He completed PhD coursework and examinations in modern British poetry and Rhetoric and Composition at Auburn University. He also completed the summer program at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
For the past 5 years, he has taught online courses in composition and has designed courses in business communication. Prior to teaching online, he was an Assistant Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, where he taught courses in Shakespeare, Romantic Literature, British literature, Literary Criticism, Modern Literature, Methods of Teaching English, and Composition. He has also taught Business Writing at various colleges and also taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English at a private military academy. He has also been a restaurant manager and auctioneer.
Professor Vice’s publications include articles on the 20th century British poet W.H. Auden, as well as several book chapters on writing assessment and the teaching of composition. He is a member of The Georgia Council of Teachers of English, The National Council of Teachers of English, as well as The Auden Society and MLA.
Professor Vice was born in a small town in Alabama, but he has worked and traveled abroad. He taught English in Japan, and he has traveled to many other countries, including Iceland. He currently lives on a small farm in Georgia, where he raises chickens. He also has an 10 year old son who keeps him very busy
In addition to travel, Professor Vice’s hobbies include reading, going to auctions and looking for the occasional bargain at a yard sale. He is also interested in genealogy and is currently researching his family tree.
