Biography - Lisset L Pickens


Dr. Lisset Pickens is an adjunct professor in the field of child and family development. She has significant experience within the fields of child and family development, early childhood education, counseling and psychology.

Professor Pickens attended Georgia Southern University for her undergraduate degree and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Development. She then went on to attend Mercer University and acquired the M.Ed in Early Childhood Education. After completing that degree she immediately began teaching and in the course of getting acclimated to the teaching field went on to attend the University of West Alabama and received her second M.Ed in the field of School Counseling. Professor Pickens completed her Doctoral Studies at Nova Southeastern University in Instructional Leadership this summer.

Dr. Pickens is employed as an elementary school counselor and adjunct professor at several universities. Dr. Pickens has previously taught PreK, second and third grades. She also has previously worked as a social service case manager in the Department of Family and Children Services.
Dr. Pickens enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with family. Presently, she resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband of seven years and two sons. Something that people often find interesting about Dr. Pickens is that she and her husband met each other on the first day of undergrad and have been together ever since.
