Greg LaMotta has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Maryland in College Park. He currently teaches European and Latin American history survey classes at the Northern Virginia Community College.
For twenty years he worked at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) where he specialized in the appraisal and processing of electronic records of various federal agencies. He has given presentations on various electronic records topics at various conferences in the United States and Europe. In 2006, he received a Special Achievement Award from NARA for his work on the team that began preserving the State Department's Electronic Telegrams.
Dr. LaMotta's academic specialization is Latin American and Caribbean history. His doctoral dissertation focused on politics in the U.S. Virgin Islands during the first half of the twentieth century. He lived in the Virgin Islands for twenty years, and has traveled throughout the Caribbean and Central America.
He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and their two teenagers. He runs 15-20 miles a week to keep from feeling too old.
