Kara Martinez holds an M.A. in International Human Rights from the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.
She earned her B.A. in International Relations, Spanish and Latin American Studies with college honors from Drake University. She was awarded the Elsworth Woods Prize for Outstanding Student in International Relations. Undergraduate studies included a semester in Chile through the School for International Training.
A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize, she continues to work on international human rights and anti-poverty issues through the nonprofit sector.
She has been published in Human Rights and Human Welfare.
