Biography - Kathryn L Wyatt

My name is Kate Wyatt and I am an instructor in the History and Military Studies Department. I am so pleased to be here and sharing my knowledge of history with the students at AMU. In addition to AMU, I have had the pleasure of teaching courses at my alma mater, Northern Arizona University, where I earned both my B.A. and M.A. I have taught a variety of (seemingly unrelated) History classes online and in person, including Western Civilization, Recent Europe, Modern-American History, and Pre-Modern India. While I focused mainly on the History of Medicine and Public Health while in graduate school, I was always fascinated (in a larger scope) with World History and how different cultures of people interacted an impacted one another.

At present, I live in beautiful Tasmania, Australia with my wonderful husband and incredible young daughter. Teaching is my passion, but - in my minimal spare time - I am also interested in art, yoga, traveling, languages (currently struggling with Russian) and reading. Above all, I have an interest in learning...endless learning.

I understand that, realistically, everyone who enrolls in History courses may not have the same fascination as I do with this subject. So, please do not be concerned! :) I am excited to help encourage student learning and - hopefully - asking questions. Our classrooms can help facilitate learning on many levels. Even if you do not consider yourself a History buff, there are always lessons and examples to be learned that may help you in future endeavors.
