Biography - Mark Kelley


Mark Kelley is Associate Professor of Humanities at APUS. He received his B.A. in English from Boston University, and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Early Modern English Literature from The Graduate Center of The City University of New York. Dr. Kelley is author and co-editor of three books on English Literature: Altering Eyes: New Perspectives on Samson Agonistes; Milton and the Grounds of Contention; and Poetics of Mourning: John Milton and the Influence of Euripides. He also has written numerous articles for journals and webzines, including The Minnesota Review, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Workplace, on subjects ranging from Greek and English literature to Modernist painting, and from the academic job market to incivility in academic discourse. Dr. Kelley is the recipient of the Alfred Gordon Dissertation Prize for Distinguished Work in Early Modern Studies, the Mario Capelloni Fellowship, the Helaine Newstead Dissertation Fellowship, and the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Practicum Grant.

A lifetime member of The Milton Society of America, Dr. Kelley has also been an Advisory Board Member at the Pew Charitable Trust and the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey. His interests include running, chess, and oenology.
