Brett L Jackman

Professor Brett L. Jackman is a graduate of the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He was a military graduate of The United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate and Basic School’s and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1985. He further received his Military Occupational Specialty as a pilot flying attack and utility helicopters in 1988. He holds dual Master of Science degrees in Aviation/Aerospace Management and Aviation/Aerospace Operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is also a Doctoral candidate at Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, AZ completing a PhD in Business Administration with specializations in Aviation/Aerospace Management and Aviation/Aerospace Operations.

Professor Jackman is a recently retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve with over 24 years of service time and 10 days short of 18 years of active duty experience specializing in leadership, operations, strategic planning, capacity building, disaster and contingency relief operations, and international affairs. He has operational experience at the tactical and operational levels of the military and planning and international coordination at the operational and strategic levels. He gained considerable experience working with foreign militaries, multinational coalitions, and diverse cultures while serving in the Plans and Capabilities Branch of Marine Forces Pacific Command, the Marine Component Command supporting United States Pacific Command.

Professor Jackman has participated in numerous military exercises including numerous Cobra Gold, Alpine Warrior, Cold Winter exercises. He also has extensive Humanitarian Operations experience including Operations SHARP EDGE, a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation in Liberia; MARFOR KATRINA, Hurricane Katrina relief operations; Operation CARING RESPONSE, Cyclone Nargis Relief Operations in Burma. Professor Jackman has also participated in combat and contingency operations in the Persian Gulf to include post DESERT STORM operations and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM flying combat support missions in Afghanistan. Professor Jackman is a designated attack and utility helicopters pilot for the Marine Corps logging over 3800 flight hours to include combat time in Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf
Professor Jackman was employed with United Space Alliance which was the prime contractor supporting NASA in TX, AL, and FL for space shuttle and space station operations amassing over 13 years of space flight operation experience. He initially trained astronauts and flight controllers on the space shuttle Guidance, Navigation, Control and Propulsion systems holding specialty training positions for Orbital Maneuvering Systems and Reaction Control Systems specializing in Contingency Deorbit techniques in the events of OMS malfunctions or failures. He held several other positions within the organization managing three departments, working as a capture manager securing additional business for the company and finally processing and expanding of new technologies.

Professor Jackman currently works for the Federal Aviation Administration in the United Certificate Management Office. The organization monitors the airline for compliance with associated regulations. The current capacity deals with operational analysis of the airline and associated monitoring of the CMO itself to enhance operations and oversight.

Professor Jackman has presented at the 5th Annual World Bird Flu Conference in Las Vegas, NV as the Keynote Speaker and at international and multinational conferences in Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, and Malaysia on planning and pandemic influenza mitigation strategies. He is published in journals in professional journals pertaining to aviation policy and flight training.
