Biography - Peter A Cash


Peter Cash holds a B.A. in History and Spanish from East Tennessee State University, completed in 1983. He completed a Master of Hispanic Studies at Auburn University in 1987. He also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Memphis, awarded in 1998.

Dr. Cash currently teaches part-time at the University of Memphis, where he has taught both U.S. History and Spanish since 1989. He has also been a middle- and high school Spanish teacher in Memphis. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a museum technician and historical interpreter for the Memphis Museum System. He has also held seasonal positions with Tennessee State Parks and more recently with Vicksburg National Military Park, where he worked with artifacts associated with the gunboat U.S.S. Cairo.

Dr. Cash currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee. His hobbies include historical reenactment, collecting vintage tools, shooting sports, and gardening.
