Rebecca  Riall

Rebecca Riall is an attorney anthropologist specializing in legal anthropology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Most recently, she received a Master of Arts in Anthropology and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Bloomington, where she is also a PhD Candidate in Anthropology, expected to graduate in 2012. Rebecca is admitted to the Indiana Bar as an attorney.

Rebecca is conducting dissertation research on state recognized American Indian tribes. She previously served as president of the board of the Native American Community Center of Bloomington, a nonprofit she co-founded in 2008 as an outgrowth of her lengthy involvement in indigenous community building. She previously worked for the Monroe County Public Defender. Her research interests, in addition to legal anthropology, include Native North America, race and ethnicity, and gender.

Rebecca's personal interests include volunteering, canine agility, and both traditional and contemporary Native American art.
