I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1953. My father was a railroad conductor. I graduated from high school in 1972. I then went to work on the railroad like my father and became a conductor also. I also attended Indiana University studying political science. In 1982 I received a severance from the railroad and moved to Clearwater, Florida. I worked as a photographer and then decided to go back to school in 1985 and get a degree as a paralegal. I attended the University of Central Florida and received a double major in Political Science and Legal Studies. After graduation, I went to work as a paralegal for the Orange County Legal Aid Society in Orlando. After a couple of years there I took a job as a General Studies Department Chair at Orlando College. I did that from 1989 until 1994 when I moved to Washington D.C. There I worked for the Treasury Department in the Resolution Trust Corportation. When that project was completed I worked for a couple of D.C. law firms and ended up becoming a real estate photographer. In 1998, I decided to return to Florida where I taught paralegal classes at Florida Metro University. I taught at a couple of other colleges and have been teaching both paralegal classes and political science classes. I have two beautiful daughters from my first marriage and am currently married to my second (and last) wife. I was also a Civil War reenactor, which was a great deal of fun.
