
Jorge Benitez received his B.A. in political science and history from the University of Florida. He earned his M.P.P. in international affairs and security from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He received his Ph.D. in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. His research focused on the 1991 Strategic Concept and NATO’s transformation into a post-Cold War alliance.
Dr. Benitez worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, as Assistant for Alliance Issues for the Director of NATO Affairs. He previously served as a specialist in international security for the Department of State and the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis.
Dr. Benitez is currently director of NATOSource, which studies the impact of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the world today. He is a member of the Committee for the Analysis of Military Operations and Strategy (CAMOS) and previously served on its Prize Selection Committee. His hobbies include SEC football, Mediterranean recipes, and ancient military history.
