Dr. Grishma Shah received her PHD in Global Affairs from Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA) in May 2008. Currently, she is a full-time assistant professor teaching Global Business and Management at a small private college in New York City.
Broadly, her research interests include globalization/international relations of emerging economies, specifically South Asia, China and Southeast Asia. In particular, she is interested in the political economy of India in relation to China and how their political systems facilitate or impede rapid economic growth. Her current research examines how the rapid economic growth in India, in particular due to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in information technology enabled services (ITES), is causing a mass and collective cosmopolitan lifestyle transformation among urban middle class youth in India. It assesses how the values of individualism and collectivism are shifting in India in accordance with a dynamic new economy and more importantly, it examines the long-term impact of these pivotal shifts on the family, firm and State in India.
